Counselling Centres on Labour Rights
COUNSELLING CENTRE S FOR PROMOTING THE LABOUR RIGHTS AND THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES LEGISLATION
The four Counselling Centres were established within a project started in 2005, financed by Church of Sweden, HEKS – Switzerland and Kerkinactie – The Netherlands.
OBJECTIVES
1. Increase the awareness level of the local authorities’ Romanian public opinion on the importance of knowing and respecting the labour rights and equal opportunities between women and men, under the conditions of Romania’s Integration to the European Union.
2. Information and education of beneficiaries on the following issues:
- Labour legislation
- Equal opportunities between women and men legislation
- Core ILO labour standards
- EU legislation
- Sustainable development
- Corporate Social Responsibility
- Social auditing
3. Development of national and international partnerships and strengthening of the cooperation between the NGOs
and trade union organisations, employers’ associations, as well as with other social actors interested in
promoting the labour rights and equal opportunities
4. Promoting the concept of “Decent Work for a Decent Life”
MISSION
The network of counselling centres aims to contribute in:

Improvement of the working conditions in enterprises, promoting the labour legislation and respect and the codes of conduct, as well as facilitating the organization process within the enterprises with no representation of workers.

Providing the information related to labor legislation and rights, equal opportunities legislation, as well the new specific regulations Romania as a Member State, to marginalized social groups (young graduated seeking for a job, women over 40 years of age or unemployed women seeking for a job).
ACTIVITIES

Organizing of training sessions and workshops for the Counselling beneficiaries on: labour legislation, EU legislation, the Law concerning equal opportunities between women and men, sustainable development, ILO standards, etc.

Providing counseling and assistance to the Counselling Centres beneficiaries on the following issues:
- training on labour legislation and rights, equal opportunities legislation
- how to solve certain situations (dismissal, rights violation, not receiving payment rights, etc.)
- finding a job.

Creating of partnership with local authorities (territorial Labour Inspection, trade unions, Municipality, city hall, etc.) in order to achieve a better information on the Centres activity and to gain support for resolving different problems the Counselling Centres beneficiaries encountered.

Organizing meetings, public debates aimed to facilitate the social dialogue at Centre’s community level.

Participation in local and national events on diverse thematic, exchange of experience and information.

Implementing and development of projects in under domestic and international partnership, in order to promote the Centers’ mission and objectives

Elaboration and distribution of informational and educational materials, studies and field research.
